How do I draw a room at an exact size?

In the wall editor, press R for the room tool. Drag to draw a room by eye, or type the width, press Tab, type the length and press Enter to place it at exactly that size.

The wall tool takes a typed length the same way: click where the wall starts, type its length and press Enter.
