Do I need to download anything, or does it work in the browser?

It works in the browser. There is nothing to install on a laptop, a tablet or a phone, and your chart is saved as you work, so you can open it on any of them and carry on.

Any current browser is fine. Because everything is saved online, you can start on a laptop, check the guest list on your phone and print from the venue’s computer.
