How far apart should tables be?

Leave at least 5 feet (60 inches) between the edges of round tables so chairs can be pulled out back to back and staff can pass, and 6 feet on the routes servers use most. Plan the room in PlanSeats at real size and measure the gaps before you commit.

Between tables: 5 ft edge to edge is the working minimum; 6 ft is comfortable.
Main aisles and service routes: 6 ft.
Around the dance floor: leave 3 ft clear of chair backs.
Dance floor size: about 3 square feet per guest if half the room dances at once.

A 60-inch round with chairs is about 9 feet across, so a 30 by 60 foot room fits three rows of rounds with room to move. Draw the room at its real size and the plan does the arithmetic: see Can I measure a distance on the plan?
