What columns should my spreadsheet have?

A name is all it needs: either a First name and a Last name column, or one Full name column. Optional columns PlanSeats understands are Email, Group, Meal, Dietary, Allergies and Table. Anything else is skipped, and you can download a template from the import panel.

Put a header row first. The mapping step reads it, guesses each column and shows the first rows so you can check; a column it does not recognise is set to Skip this column until you choose a field for it.

A Group column becomes a category (the bride’s family, work friends) that filters and seating rules can use. A Table column seats guests straight onto the table of that name if it exists.

Phone numbers, addresses and RSVP answers are stored on a guest but cannot be imported as columns yet; add them in the guest sheet.
